Finding myself

My First IELTS Reading Tutorial

I uploaded my very first YouTube video today, an IELTS Reading module tutorial. On the first take, I thought I’d recorded an absolute masterpiece. I finished, stretched, smiled. Few minutes later, I sat down to start editing only to realise I never saved the video.

I went crazy, spent a whole day looking for it, I was so pissed I formatted my laptop. At that point I genuinely felt like crying. It took me more than 1 week to recover, gathered the last crumbs of motivation and recorded a second video. This time, I used OBS Studio app. Everything seemed perfect… until I finished and discovered the audio stopped working about 15 minutes into the session.

The entire tutorial was basically a silent film. Mr Bean and Charlie Chaplin would have been proud. At this point, I had no more patience left in me. I was like, there you go, My YouTube career ended before it ever started.

About 3 days later, I got a notification from Remarkable saying my device is one year old today since I bought it, and that got me reminiscing: “Why did I buy this thing again?” Then it hit me. This video and stuff. That was literally the reason. So I told myself: “You cannot spend £500 on a device just for it to become an expensive paperweight.” So I managed to ginger myself, dragged my behind back to the desk, and recorded again. It was two days of rubbish editing, another two just uploading a single video because apparently my genius self recorded the video in 8K resolution without realising it.

After all that madness, Today at 14:30, the video premiered. 🎉
And honestly…I’ve never been more proud of myself, even if it end up being my only footprint on YouTube 😃
